도착 후 17일에 클리블랜드 대통령에게 고종의 국서를 전달했습니다. 이틀 후 백악관 부근 피서옥(Fisher House, 皮瑞屋)에 첫번째 공사관 사무소를 개설했습니다. 이듬해 2월 13일 현재의 공사관 건물로 이전하였습니다.

주미대한제국공사관 건물의 1~2층은 19세기말 주미대한제국공사관 운영 당시의 모습을 원형에 충실하게 고증 재현하였으며, 3층은 전시공간으로 꾸며져 한미교류사와 주미대한제국공사관의 역사와 변천과정 등을 한 눈에 알아보기 쉽게 소개하고 있습니다. 공사관 건물 내부관람은 인터넷을 통한 사전예약제를 시행하고 있으며, 관람료는 무료입니다.
